Welcome Second Graders!!!
I am extremely excited to start the school year with you and your child! Although this year will be incredibly different, it is my goal to make the transition to Virtual Learning as seamless as possible. We will definitely be making adjustments along the way. I appreciate your flexibility in advance.
Contact Info: Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns or questions. Classroom Dojo is the best way to reach me. Additionally, you can reach me at the following:
Google Phone Number (Call or Text): 1(920) 322-7290
Expectations: As I mentioned above, this is a new experience for all of us! I want to make sure that your children receive as much from Virtual Learning as they would in the classroom. It is very important that students log on EVERYDAY and ON TIME.
Attendance: Attendance will be taken daily. Please avoid scheduling appointments, visits with friends or family and help your student succeed by minimizing distractions during school hours. School time is the same as it would be if we were in traditional classrooms. Monday-Friday from 8:30am-3pm (except holidays). Although we will not be teaching live 100% of the time, students will still be responsible for independent work, and I will be available to assist via Zoom/Phone and/or GoogleMeet.
**If you have extenuating circumstances that may require your student to view lessons and complete work outside of school hours, please contact me to speak about our options. However, it is the expectation of the school that you do your best to accommodate Virtual Learning within normal school hours. Communication is very important, especially during distance learning.
Lunch/Recess Breaks: I have set aside 40 minutes for students to have a lunch break, 11:00 AM - 11:40 AM. Students will receive “recess” breaks throughout the day. This should be when they use the restroom and grab a snack if needed. Students should not be eating during zoom meetings.
Zoom: Is treated just like a classroom. Please help your student minimize distractions by providing a safe and quiet space for them to work. I understand there may be other children in your home completing work at the same time. I would recommend providing headphones to minimize background noise. Students should be on mute except for when they are sharing. Appropriate clothing and behavior is expected.
Please have the following supplies readily available at home so your child can do his/her work:
4 - pencils, 2 erasers, a good sharpener, 2 glue sticks, 1 scissor, crayons, writing papers, two composition notebooks (wide-ruled) and a supply box.
Meeting ID: 774 3928 4351
Passcode: (Contact Teacher)
Schoology via Clever: This will be our main site to access online assignments and applications. You will be logging in via CLEVER.
First Week of School
Our class will be "easing" into the routine of virtual learning the first week of school. I will go step by step and explain everything so that everyone understands how to use the websites and learning apps before assigning any work. All you need you to do is try your best and ask questions whenever you need help. Our year will be unlike any before, but I will continue to work hard to make it the best possible.
We will all have to work together to make this year productive, fun, and memorable. Please reach out using Class Dojo. This will be the easiest way to get a hold of me and share information. I’ll do my best to respond during the end of each day.
I can't wait to see you all and start off a wonderful year!
