Welcome!
Greetings Harriet Tubman Village Charter School Community,
It is with genuine excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as your new principal for the school year. I am honored to join this vibrant community and am deeply committed to serving our students, families, and staff. Thank you for trusting me with the responsibility of helping guide our school forward—I take that trust to heart and will hold myself to the highest standards as we work together.
San Diego is a place I consider my second home, and I have strong roots in this community. I attended the University of California, San Diego, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature and later my Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I also earned my teaching credential and Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University. I began my career as a teacher at a charter school in San Diego, an experience that deeply shaped my commitment to equity, access, and student-centered learning. I am also a proud parent of two children who are now in postsecondary education—my youngest, Ella, attends a university in Ohio, and my oldest, Isaac, will be joining the SDSU community in the fall of 2026. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors and can often be found biking and hiking throughout San Diego County.
With more than 16 years of administrative experience in education, I have served as a school administrator in Title I secondary schools throughout San Diego County. In addition to site-based leadership, I bring district-level experience overseeing curriculum and instruction, as well as student support services. These roles have strengthened my ability to lead systems that support high-quality teaching and learning while ensuring students receive the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral supports they need to thrive. My core values—fairness, collaboration, strategic thinking, decisiveness, and vision—guide how I lead and how I partner with others. I firmly believe that when we bring all voices to the table—staff, parents, students, and our school board—we build a stronger, more united village.
Together, we will continue to advance our mission of cultivating thoughtful, empowered leaders. Our goal is to ensure every student receives a well-rounded education grounded in high academic expectations and rich learning experiences. Just as importantly, we will nurture the whole child through a tiered system of supports. Every day, our students will engage in learning that challenges them to create, collaborate, communicate, and think critically, while also having meaningful opportunities to lead, participate in school events, explore the arts, and engage in athletics.
In the coming days, I will be launching focus and engagement groups so we can begin shaping our shared plan for the path ahead. I look forward to listening, learning, and building alongside you.
Thank you for welcoming me into the Harriet Tubman Village family. I am excited for all we will accomplish—together.
