Harriet Tubman Village Charter School welcomes their new Principal Rachel McCoy

Hello Tubman Community,

My name is Rachel McCoy and I am Harriet Tubman Village Charter School’s new principal. Having been a member of this tight-knit community for many years as both a classroom teacher and the Instructional Program Coordinator, I am thrilled to return and continue leading Tubman in positive direction. This school is a special place with an amazingly diverse student population, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents.

Tubman’s Scholars are my number one priority and I will work tirelessly to maintain a nurturing, safe, and rigorous learning environment for them. I truly believe that it “takes a village” to raise a child. With that in mind, having teachers, support staff, parents, and community members work together for our students is paramount.

I am also excited to expand our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) program through exciting electives and afterschool programs, as well as the implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards. Be on the lookout for new curriculum that integrates technology and will help our students develop critical 21st century skills.

I look forward to meeting you at the Back to School BBQ on Thursday, August 18 and seeing our students’ smiling faces on the first day of school, Monday, August 22.
