Opportunities for Parent Involvement
Parents have many opportunities to be involved at their children’s school site and at the district level (for example, district councils/committees, Parent University, and special events). We also encourage parents to support their children at home by mak-ing their expectations about school clear and creating a positive homework and learn-ing environment.
At Tubman Village we are committed to obtaining community resources for our school and invite all constituencies to assist us in the education of our students.
Our parents assist with programs, festivals, and library management. They vol-unteer in classrooms as readers and tutors and as chaperones at school events. They serve as chairpersons and active participants on various committees, such as the School Governance Team and Village Council. Village Council is held in conjunc-tion with our student programs. Our School Governance Team meets on a monthly basis to discuss school improvement process and policies.
